When light warships were released as part of the Admiral Rules Pack, they were a game changer. The tactics of these new ships were quite different than any of the warships that came before them. The Arcadia’s armament allows it to continue to be part of this tradition. Its main weapon is a Gravity Mine Launcher. While this weapon cannot directly harm enemy warships, if it is placed right, it can entrap them and drain them of precious reactor power. This tactic is powerful in its own right, but is absolutely deadly when paired with the long range guns of the Dryden class destroyer.

According to Colayth Guard military doctrine, the role of the aerospace fighter is to provide close defensive support for warships and strike craft and the armament of the Larkin fighter reflects this ideology. Unlike the Heragul Hunters and Surakari Interceptors, the Larkin does not have the ability to inflict damage on enemy warships. Instead, it trades heavy weapons and maneuvering thrusters for advanced targeting computers. With its fighter value ‘3’ weapon, the Larkin will almost always best opposing squadrons of equal size. While being in the shadow of a friendly warship’s flak guns only helps to better their odds of victory, squadrons of Larkins often fly alongside Evartt strike craft in order to escort these bombers to their target.

Just beyond the borders of the Sarlet District of the Heragul Empire, Exterion Fleet Gamma made first contact with an alien race which calls themselves the Colayth Guard.(Pronounced: Co-lay-th). Speaking to the Heragul in the Krylan language, these mysterious aliens only revealed that they are friends with the Krylan currently being enslaved by the Heragul. Following a violent confrontation between Exterion Fleet Gamma and the new alien race, Heragul High Command decided the only valid option was a swift and decisive military strike. Before the attack could be executed, Heragul history changed forever as the Surakari began their war against the Empire.
Legends of Kalidasia: Exterion Fleets not only introduces the Colayth Guard as an active combat faction, but it also provides a look into the operation of the Heragul’s most secret fleets. Exterion fleets patrol just beyond the borders of the Empire looking for resource rich systems, signs of ancient civilizations, and in this case, new a alien race.
With this expansion, the Colayth Guard will gain access to six different units: Three warships, one light warship, one fighter squadron, and a new class of unit called a ‘Strike Craft’. In addition to the new unit class, Colayth Guard fleets bring to the table several new weapon special abilities, a new damage model, a new type of mine, and fighter carriers. Over the next few weeks as the expansion gets closer to release, I’ll be show casing the new units and their weapons in detail, but today I’m just going to start with the picture below.
